You're standing in front of the Grand Ducal Palace in Luxembourg City. This is the official residence of the Grand Duke. It's where he carries out most of his duties as head of state, even though he actually lives mainly at Berg Castle in Colmar-Berg. Take a look at the richly decorated façade in Flemish Renaissance style. It already hints that this building is older than you might think. And see the soldier by the entrance? Since 1966, soldiers of Luxembourg's army have stood guard here. Before that, it was the Grand Ducal Guard.
