You're standing at Pobiti Kamani, also known as the Stone Forest, in Varna Province in eastern Bulgaria. The name means planted stones, and that's exactly what you see. Stone pillars rise out of the sand, as if someone had set them out in rows. They're five to seven metres high and between thirty centimetres and three metres wide. With all that sand around them, the place looks like a desert.
