Kyrenia Castle in Girne

You're standing at Kyrenia Castle, on the east side of town, right by the old harbour. Take a look at those thick, heavy walls. They were built that solid to stand up to cannon fire. That was the work of the Venetians, around 1540. They gave the castle the look it has today, with gun ports on three levels, all aimed at anyone attacking from the land.
