You're standing at the Risiera di San Sabba, on the edge of Trieste. It's a quiet place, and it's meant to be. Start by looking at the complex itself. It was built between 1898 and 1913 as a rice-husking plant, and that's where the name comes from: risiera means rice mill. In Slovene it's called Rižarna.
