You're standing at Vyšehrad, the 'upper castle' of Prague. This old fortress stands on the east bank of the Vltava, just over 3 kilometres southeast of Prague Castle. Look around at the heavy brick ramparts and bastions. They're Baroque: from 1654 the Habsburgs turned Vyšehrad into a fortress and a training ground for the imperial army.
