You're standing at Bassae, high in the mountains of the Peloponnese, more than eleven hundred metres above sea level. The name roughly means 'little vale in the rocks', and one look around tells you why. Right in the middle of this wild landscape stands the Temple of Apollo Epicurius. Well, technically it stands under a big white tent, which protects the ancient stones from the weather.
