Schloss Hof in Engelhartstetten

You're standing at Schloss Hof, out on the flat Marchfeld plain in Austria, just a stone's throw from the Slovak border. Have a look around. This Baroque palace feels more like a royal country retreat than a farm estate, and that's pretty much what it was. Long ago a medieval fortress called Hof stood nearby. The first castle went up in the 1620s, just east of it.
