You're standing at Criccieth Castle, Castell Cricieth in Welsh, perched on a rocky headland above Tremadog Bay. Start with the most striking part: the gatehouse with its two towers. It still stands almost to its full height, and so does the inner wall around it. The rest of the castle is far more ruined. In places, the towers and walls survive only as foundations.
