You're standing at Harlech Castle, which these days officially goes by its Welsh name, Castell Harlech. It sits on a rocky spur almost two hundred feet high. On the north and west the ground drops away sharply, and on the other sides a ditch cut into the rock guards the approach. Have a look at the stone: local grey-green sandstone, with big, regular blocks in the towers.
