You're standing at Dunluce Castle, or what's left of it. Just look at where it sits. The ruin perches on the edge of a basalt outcrop, with sheer drops down to the sea on either side. The only way across is a bridge from the mainland. No wonder people came looking for safety here early on. An ancient Irish fort once stood on this spot, and early Christians and Vikings were drawn to it too.
