You're standing at The Kelpies, two enormous steel horse heads between the Scottish towns of Falkirk and Grangemouth. Go on, look up. Each head is thirty metres tall and weighs around three hundred tonnes. The M9 motorway runs right past, and this is where the Forth and Clyde Canal begins, at the point where it meets the River Carron. So the two horses act as a kind of gateway at the canal's eastern end.
