You're standing at Sutton Hoo, on a ridge above the River Deben in Suffolk. Look at the low humps in the grass. There are about twenty burial mounds here, from the sixth and seventh centuries. This was where Anglo-Saxons of exceptional wealth or status were buried, together with their most precious belongings.
