Arslantepe Mound in Battalgazi

You're standing at Arslantepe, the hill of the lion. It might look like an ordinary hill on the edge of Malatya, but people made it. A mound like this is called a tell. For thousands of years, people kept building on top of the remains of those who came before them, until the hill rose about thirty metres above the plain.
