You're standing by the Seven Sisters, a row of white chalk cliffs on the English Channel. Look along the coast and try counting the peaks. They run from the mouth of the River Cuckmere near Seaford to the chalk headland of Beachy Head outside Eastbourne. The dips between the peaks are what's left of dry valleys in the South Downs hills. The sea is slowly eating into them, and it's even carving out an eighth peak.
