Castle Valère in Sion

You're standing at the Valère Basilica, the fortified church at the top of Valère hill, about 615 metres above sea level. Quite a climb, right? The hill is so rugged that the only way up is from the north-east. Have a look around. The church sits right at the summit, with walls and a small fortified village wrapped around it. So is it a church or a castle? Both. That's why it's also called Château de Valère.
