You're standing at the Castle of Zafra, high in the Sierra de Caldereros, at around 1,400 metres. Start by looking at the rock itself. The castle sits on top of a long, weathered ridge of sandstone and fills it completely. At the south-west end is the entrance tower, at the other end the main buildings, with a wall linking the two. Now glance at the meadow around you. Those traces of buildings may be stables or storehouses from an outer enclosure.
