You're standing at the Via Mala, a deep, narrow gorge between Thusis and Zillis-Reischen. Take a look down. That's the Hinterrhein, the river that carved its way through the rock. Now look up: the walls rise hundreds of metres above you. The name is Romansh for 'bad path'. That pretty much says it all.
