You're standing at Stevns Klint, a line of white chalk cliffs on the coast of the Danish island of Zealand. They rise up to forty metres above the Baltic Sea. Take a good look at the cliff face. At the bottom is soft white chalk. Above it runs a thin, dark band of clay, mostly just five to ten centimetres thick. That little stripe is world famous.
