You're standing at the Brusio spiral viaduct, just outside the little village of Brusio in the Swiss canton of Graubünden. Take a good look at that stone bridge. It doesn't run straight. It curves, and the curve closes into a full circle. Nine stone arches, each ten metres wide, carry the tracks of the Bernina Railway here. Together they stretch about a hundred and ten metres.
