You're standing at Scone Palace, just outside Perth in Scotland. Look at that red sandstone and the battlements along the roof. It looks like a medieval castle, but it was built in the early nineteenth century. Architect William Atkinson was asked to update the old palace while keeping something of the Gothic abbey it stands on. The 3rd Earl of Mansfield paid around sixty thousand pounds for it. To make room for the new gardens, the whole village of Scone was moved a few kilometres away in 1805.
