You're standing at Erg Chebbi, a sea of sand dunes in eastern Morocco. Have a look around. All around you lies the hamada, a flat and rocky desert. And then, out of nowhere, these orange hills of sand rise up. At their highest they reach about a hundred and fifty meters. That's taller than most church towers.
