You're standing at the Château de Clisson, high on a rock above the right bank of the Sèvre Nantaise. Take in the position for a moment. This was once the edge of the independent Duchy of Brittany, right at a crossroads leading to Anjou and Poitou. No surprise, then, that this became one of Brittany's great frontier fortresses.
