You're standing at the Pierre Avoi, a mountain in the Swiss Pennine Alps, in the canton of Valais. Take a look around. You're on the ridge that separates the main Rhône valley from the valley of Bagnes. Down on one side is Saxon, and on the other lies Verbier, the well-known ski resort.
