You're standing at Celle Castle, the largest castle in the southern part of the Lüneburg Heath. Start by looking at the rooftops. A whole crown of gables runs around them, and the towers end in unusual domes. It all feels a bit Italian, and that's no accident. Duke George William had spent time in Venice as a young man. From 1670 he had these façades modelled on Venetian buildings, and that's the look the castle still has today.
