Augustenborg Slot in Sønderborg

You're standing at Augustenborg Palace, on the island of Als in southern Denmark. Start with the colours: yellow walls and a blue-tiled roof. Notice how the wings rise a little higher as they approach the middle? There, the central section steps forward, three storeys tall. The whole building is perfectly symmetrical. This three-winged main building went up between 1770 and 1776. The low, red-roofed buildings around the outer courtyard are older, with work on them starting in 1733.
