You're standing at Orlík Castle, on the Vltava River in South Bohemia. Start by looking at the water. This castle used to sit on a rock, some sixty metres above the river valley. Then, between 1954 and 1962, a reservoir was created here. Now the castle sits just a few metres above the water. The name still fits, though. Orlík comes from the Czech word for eagle. Picture it: an eagle's nest, perched high on a rock above a bend in the river.
