You're standing on the Plaza Mayor in Salamanca, the square people call the heart of the city. Many consider it one of the most beautiful squares in Spain. Turn around slowly. On every side you'll see the same baroque façades, with arches at street level and three floors above them. But something's slightly off. The square isn't perfectly square, and none of the façades are the same height. It measures roughly seventy by seventy metres.
