You're standing at Museum Abteiberg in Mönchengladbach, the city's museum for art of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Start by taking a good look at the building itself. It was designed by the Austrian architect Hans Hollein, and it's seen as a highpoint of postmodern architecture. One book about it even calls it architecture as collage. Notice how different shapes and materials seem stuck together side by side? That's exactly the point.
