You're standing on the Mönchberg in Hadamar, next to a building that at first glance looks like an ordinary hospital. And that's what it still is today: a psychiatric clinic operates here. But between January 1941 and March 1945, around 14,500 people were murdered on this site. They were people with disabilities or mental illness, killed because the Nazis considered their lives worthless.
