You're standing at Possenhofen Castle, on the western shore of Lake Starnberg. This is where Princess Elisabeth in Bavaria, the future Empress Sisi, spent much of her childhood. Start with the old castle. It's a solid, cube-shaped block with a tower at each corner. Those towers once had flat pyramid roofs. Around 1860 they were given Gothic battlements, modelled on Berg Castle further along the lake. That's why the whole thing looks like a little knight's fortress.
