You're standing at Kjeragbolten, on the mountain Kjerag in the eastern part of Sandnes Municipality, Norway. Take a look at the boulder in front of you. It's wedged into a wide crack in the mountain, like a marble that got stuck between two walls. The rock is about five cubic metres in size. That doesn't sound like much, until you look at what's underneath it. Nothing at all. Just air, all the way down, 984 metres deep.
