You're standing at Craigievar Castle, a few miles south of Alford in Aberdeenshire. First, look at the colour. Pink! That's no modern whim. Aberdeen architect John Smith gave the walls this shade around 1826, to match the granite mouldings. Notice how tall and narrow it is? On a tiny footprint, the builders stacked seven storeys on top of each other, in an L-shape, crowned with a playful cluster of turrets. The National Trust for Scotland says this castle inspired Walt Disney's pink Cinderella castle. Can you see it?
