You're standing at the Circuit Paul Armagnac, the race track of Nogaro, deep in southwestern France. Have a look around. The ground is remarkably flat: there's only six metres between the highest and lowest points. Cars and bikes race clockwise here, along two long straights that run almost side by side. One is the start-finish straight, about nine hundred and fifty metres long, named after Nogaro-born motorcycle builder Claude Fior. The other is the aerodrome straight, because it runs right alongside Nogaro's little airfield.
