The story

You're standing on the Feldberg, the highest mountain in the Black Forest and in the whole of Baden-Württemberg. Have a look around. Notice anything? The summit is bare. That's not because of the altitude, since the tree line here would only be at around 1,650 to 1,700 metres. It's not a natural border. Cattle farming in this region holds the forest back.
