Museum Maison de la Roche aux Fées in Essé

You're standing at La Roche-aux-Fées, the Fairies' Rock, in the commune of Essé in Brittany. Around you is a wood of chestnut and oak, and here on the hill lies one of the largest and most famous dolmens in Brittany. Take in the length first. It's a covered passage of around twenty metres, about four times longer than it is wide. Upright stones carry the huge roofing slabs laid across them. The heaviest weighs around forty-five tonnes.
