You're standing at Hopperstad Stave Church, just outside the village of Vikøyri. Take in that brown wooden silhouette, roof stacked on roof, with a raised central nave rising in the middle. It was probably built around 1130, and it still stands on its original foundations. That makes it one of the oldest stave churches left in Norway.
