You're standing at Uvdal Stave Church, in the Numedal valley. This little wooden church is older than you might guess. By studying the tree rings in its pine timber, researchers worked out that it was built just after 1168. The builders were apparently in a bit of a hurry: the logs weren't even fully dry when they put it up.
