You're standing at the Karl Marx Monument in Chemnitz. Hard to miss, right? In front of you looms a giant bronze head. The head alone is over seven metres tall, and with its base the whole thing rises more than thirteen metres. It weighs around forty tonnes. Locals simply call it the Nischel, a Saxon word for head or skull.
