You're standing at Urquhart Castle, on a triangular headland jutting out into Loch Ness. Its Gaelic name means something like the castle of the nose. Look at the shape of the headland and you'll see why. Start with the big dry ditch on the land side. At its widest it's thirty metres across. Back in the day, the only way over was a drawbridge.
