Castle Lietava

You're standing at Lietava Castle, a sprawling ruin in the Súľov Mountains of northern Slovakia. Have a look around. The walls sit high above the countryside, between the villages of Lietava and Lietavská Svinná-Babkov. That spot was no accident. The Amber Road ran past here, an old trade route along which amber and other goods were carried. Whoever held this hill could keep an eye on the traffic.
