Archaeological site Franchthi Cave in Municipality of Ermionida

You're standing at Franchthi Cave, high above Kiladha Bay, with the little village of Kiladha right across the water. Start by looking at the sea. Today the shoreline reaches almost to the mouth of the cave. But when people lived here, the coast was several kilometres away. Since then the sea has risen by around 120 metres. Where you now see the bay, there was once a fertile plain, full of game and later farmland.
