Klis Fortress in Općina Klis

You're standing at Klis Fortress, high above the village of the same name, just outside Split. Take a look around. You're on a mountain pass between Mosor and Kozjak, about 360 metres up. On three sides this rock is impossible to reach. From here you can see Split, the Roman remains of Salona, Trogir and most of the central Dalmatian islands. No wonder every army that wanted this region had to take this fortress first.
