You're standing in the churchyard of the little church in Fortingall, a small village in Perthshire, Scotland. Behind that low wall grows what may well be the oldest living tree in Britain: a European yew. Nobody knows its exact age. Some say fifteen hundred years, others three thousand. Forestry and Land Scotland puts it at around five thousand. Either way, it's very, very old.
