You're standing at Castello Ursino, the Bear Castle of Catania. Start by looking at its shape. It's a solid square block with a big round tower on every corner. There used to be half-round towers in the middle of each wall too, and two of them are still standing. Emperor Frederick II had the castle built between 1239 and 1250. It was meant to show who was in charge in Sicily, and back then people thought it simply couldn't be taken.
