You're standing at the Roman Theatre of Orange, one of the best preserved theatres of the entire Roman world. Start with that enormous wall. The outer façade is 103 metres long and 37 metres high, three storeys high, with very little decoration. And yet it's overwhelming. At almost every other ancient theatre, this stage building has vanished. Here it's still almost completely intact.
