You're standing at the memorial to the Battle of Agincourt, one of the most famous battles of the Middle Ages. Have a look around. Fields, the edges of woods, wide open country. According to tradition, two armies clashed here on 25 October 1415, Saint Crispin's Day, in a narrow strip of land between the woods of Azincourt and Tramecourt. Six hundred years on, the landscape has barely changed. Mind you, nobody knows the exact spot for sure. Archaeologists have found very little here, and some historians place the battlefield a bit further west.
