Wieskirche in Steingaden

You're standing at the Wieskirche, the Pilgrimage Church of Wies, in a meadow at the foot of the Bavarian Alps. Wies simply means meadow. Have a look at the outside first. It's surprisingly plain, with clean lines. The tower has a dome with a slightly Byzantine feel, topped by a gilded cross you can see glinting from far away. At the back, the priest's house is attached to the church in the same style.
