You're standing at Medininkai Castle, in eastern Lithuania. Look at how far those walls stretch. This is the largest castle of its kind in Lithuania: a huge walled courtyard built on flat ground, with no hill or river to help defend it. The yard alone covers almost two hectares. The walls once rose fifteen metres high and were two metres thick, with four gates and towers.
