You're standing at the Royal Palace of La Almudaina, right across from Palma Cathedral. Take a look at those heavy walls and towers. It looks more like a fortress than a palace, and that's exactly how it started. This was an Arab fort, an alcázar. The site itself is said to go back even further, to the Romans.
