You're standing at The Macallan distillery, on the Easter Elchies estate just outside the village of Craigellachie. This is Speyside, in the north-east of Scotland, the heartland of Scotch whisky. Take a good look at the building. For a distillery, it's surprisingly modern. It opened in 2018 and cost a hefty 140 million pounds. See how the roof rolls and is covered in grass, as if the building is sinking into the hills? Architects loved it. In 2019 it was shortlisted for the Stirling Prize, a major British architecture award, and that same year it was named the best building in Scotland.
